Pre-Order sale: Apt to be Suspicious

Apt to be Suspicious will be out on November 7th, 2025. Pre-order it via Payhip this weekend or sign up for my newsletter to get the links to preorder it elsewhere as soon as they’re ready (by the end of September). $2.99 USD pre-order during the sale, $5.99 after that.
Apt to be Suspicious finds Edmund Carillon in his second year at Oxford. The university and the world are finally settling down to normal in 1947.
There are key exams to prepare for, along with his dual apprenticeships in Ritual and Naming magic. Never mind the time and effort involved in making it look like he’s exactly what everyone expects to see: clever, well-mannered, and without a care in the world beyond his exams.
Pen Stirling fell in love with cryptography during the war, and she has ideas about how to make codes that are vastly harder to break. But she doesn’t have the connections or the resources to get anyone to listen to her properly. A degree in maths will do as a starting point.
When both of them independently stumble into a series of odd interactions, Pen has to decide whether she can trust what Edmund’s telling her or what it means. Second in the Liminal Mysteries series exploring Albion after World War II, Apt to be Suspicious can be read in any order. It’s full of cryptic crosswords, the strategic deployment of a punt, and figuring out how to be in the world as a grownup.
Audio : Pastiche

Get 11 hours of audio for just $10 during the sale.
Pastiche is my one and only audiobook so far. (I hope to do more!) It’s the arranged marriage to love match romance of Alysoun and Richard Edgarton in 1906 and a wonderful introduction to the Edgarton family.
Readers have loved reading how Alysoun lives with what we’d call fibromyalgia, but still has a rich life, including investigations and adventures. The audio book is beautifully narrated by Maria Nicola Johson.
If you prefer to get your audio from other sources (though not on sale), here are all the options to get Pastiche in audio, including the available library options.
